In 2005, following extensive renovation by Núñez i Navarro, the building was reborn as the Hotel 1898, a unique spot with Colonial flair and a style all its own, offering the best of Barcelona to each and every guest.

Making the most of the building’s unique architecture, the spa is housed in what was once a coal bunker. Later, it was converted into the chambers of the General Philippines Tobacco Company. Today it’s the home of the hotel’s luxurious spa, featuring thermal circuit and indoor pool.
